Baghdadophobia – an Iraqi’s fear of his own capital city.

I came across this new word “Baghdadophobia” recently, I felt quite sad that anyone has to fear being in their own country, for someone who loves their country so much, it is a disaster, hopefully the election of Obama and his promise to withdraw the American troops from Iraq would bring some peace to this part of the world again.

The US has been the dominant power in the world, in spite of the obvious claim of freedom and non-existence of racism; there are people with strong views about black American population. Obama is going to change the view of all countries towards America and the dominant power. I guess everyone sees in Obama the hope and the change they want in the world. Whether he is able to deliver or not is a different matter. He is definitely going to change the world’s perception of the US, Obama arrives at a critical time for the US and for the whole world. With the global financial crisis dominating the head lines, it will be good to see something different is happening. Especially when you think that there is no hope, no peace, poverty is dominating, richer get richest and poorer get poorer. Obama represents what we all want in our dream to believe is the new ray of hope for our race and for us as human beings. We want to believe that there is still hope that a black man can rule the most powerful country in the world and he could still fight for a good cause.

Let’s hope we will have a world with less war and less killing, less invasions and more peace.

I just read this article about Gordon Brown’s visit to Saudi Arabia, it made me wonder why the Arabs don’t do anything with their money to become a strong power in the world, all the Gulf countries oil money go to waste, it is really sad.
